Cody Gems & Jewellery Report
Cody Gems & Jewellery Report
In Antarctic conditions we came close to playing 4 quarters of solid football for the first time this year. We had the majority of the play and despite being down to 20 men by the final siren we recorded a worthy 3 point win. This was a win that rewarded the effort that the players and coaches have put in all year. The brothers Gibbs used all their 400 games experience to be two of our best. Special K kicked 6 from a bag of tricks which included a mongrel torpedo and 2 check sides. Great to see Trav wearing the black and white again. Moony was back to his 2014 form. Chooka wound back the clock and lead the club song and in true ‘Snaggalpos’ style, looked like he was about to have a coronary attack. Look forward to many more before the season is over Chook.
Thanks Hammer for having faith in your old team by tipping us. But looking at your other tips I’m not quite sure it was faith!

Heatherton snatched its second win of the season by three points in a thriller against Caulfield at Koornang Park. The Bears squandered their chances in the final term, spaying the goals for 2-6, while the Tunners slotted three straight goals. Each side boasted a key target up forward, with Trevor Kumetaitis booting six of Heatherton’s 12 goals and Adam Connell steering through seven of Caulfield’s 11.
For Kumetaitis, steering through the winning goal late in the final term signalled a welcome return to the fold.
“Trevor broke his arm and it’s only his fourth game back,” explained Tunners coach Clint Einsiedel.
“That will do him the world of good. Today’s win is also a great boost for the club when we really needed it.
“We’ve had a horrible run of injuries and are just starting to get some players back on the park.”
Former club stalwart Trav Sauer also made a welcome return and was one of his team’s best in his first game since crossing back from Pearcedale.
The Gibbs boys, Shayne and Stuart, starred for the winners, with Cameron Moon and Jesse Stone also conspicuous. Those to show out for the Bears included Adam Ballard, James Backway and Jason Twirdy.
